Some Sacramento politicians think Californians don't pay enough taxes and have proposed $30 billion in new and higher taxes to pay for more government spending. Some of the $30 billion in higher taxes that the liberal majority has proposed include:
• Raising the car tax ($6 billion) • Eliminating the home mortgage interest deduction ($5.3 billion) • Eliminating the child dependent credit ($2.4 billion) • Increasing the oil tax, which would raise gas prices ($1.2 billion) • New taxes on the bags we use at the grocery store ($1.5 to $4.75 billion) • Charging taxes on iTunes and other downloads ($500 million) Derrick Roach is committed to standing against higher taxes and is the only candidate for the 79th Assembly District to have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
“I am appalled that we are not getting our full funding…we need to be pro-active in identifying new revenue sources…”
